The reassessment which incl udes his vital signs and pain assessment were scoring high, which is a clear indication that he was in pain. Therefore, we informed the duty doctor and the doctor reviewed and changed the dose of his medication. The second stage of the Gibbs’ cycles is about the feelings(Bulman, 2013). I have mixed feelings and thoughts in my mind during that incident. Firstly, I did not believe completely what he said about his pain, as I have heard from some other staff in that department that he complains it all the time. However, John’s facial expression gave me a feeling that he was in pain. I was concerned about his pain and I decided to do something for that. At the same time I was quite worried about the challenging nature of nursing profession which demonstrates here, as we could not manage John’s pain even with the help of some analgesics. Answer: Introduction of family The present family is considered for the scope of intervention, assessment, and care planning comprises of total six members. The head of the family is X (age41) male and her wife Y (age38). They have one two kids, younger son xy (age4) at the preschool stage, and elder daughter xx (age8) at school going stage of life. Along with them, two brothers of X are also staying XA (age30) and XB (age25) are also staying in the house. X and Y are working as a school teacher, XA is working as a research scholar, and XB is working in a private software company. The family is residing in my locality, to whom; I have explained the rationale of the interview and associated benefits of healthcare planning. The family is Indian by origin and have moved to this residential place 15 years back. The family practices Hinduism religion and have a good relationship among the family members. In the present concern, Y is suffering from joint pain, which has been diagnosed as arthritis and that it requires a long-term care. The care plan includes medication and occupational therapy since last 2 years. Recently, based on a medical recommendation from a panel of experts, surgery was recommended for the management of this chronic disease. The scope of a family of assessment is thus mainly performed with X and Y related to a health issue, which also include XA and XB into the consideration of family education related to collective health management and for self-management of Y. Figure 1: Genogram of the family Analysis of the family assessment The safety measures have been the key to assessing the family staying condition and that the results are provided in the appendix section. Based on the evaluation result, it was confirmed that the family is maintaining a safe condition for children as well as for other family members staying in the house. Additionally, some of the concerns are identified within the home or in nearby environment, that need particular attention for the efficient and safe living of the family members (Barry Edgman-Levitan, 2012). Weakness and analysis based on assessment form - Based on the safety assessment of the kitchen, all the measures were found to be appropriate except two particular concerns. In particular, the cleaning agents such as phenyl, toilet cleaning agents, and mild acids bottles are found to be kept at ground level within the kitchen. Likewise, the back burners that are used for cooking are also found to be opened, which are identified to have the potential for the safe living of the family. The bathroom condition was also found to be optimal for safe usage such as maintaining the temperature of the water bath, keeping the medications away from the reach of children, unplugging of electrical appliances while not in use (Barry Edgman-Levitan, 2012). The only concern identified includes not using a non-skid strip or mat on the bathtub floor. The children of the house are at the toddler stage of life and hence all the condition found to be optimal for safe living. Whereas in conjunction with the general safety measures, it was identified that the materials such as plastic bags, pieces of foods, small objectives and similar things are not out of reach of xy. Identification of this safety measure is significant as it may cause an accident that can cause complication and/or injury. Similarly for the outdoor standards, there is no storage for syrup of ipecac or similar emetic agents that can be used as any measures for vomiting. The telephone present in the home also does not contain stickers that contain emergency helpline numbers (Coleman, 2015). Though both of these factors are not frequent for usage, yet they are necessary to be placed within the home. It should be noted that in conjunction with the safety practices, the home does not contain particular fire escape plan. Likewise, the there is only one exit to the home, which may cause a problem in any undesirable or emergency fire-related problem. The most important part is that family members place poisonous materials, medicines, and related materials away from the reach of children. Additionally, hygienic condition and hand wash practice is also performed at home that helps in efficient management of health for the family members (Coleman, 2015). Consent - The consent for the learning of safe and healthy practices at home has been signed by the head of the family, which has been attached to the appendix section (Doenges, Moorhouse Murr, 2016). The related rationale for the learning This has been provided along with the analysis of the safety assessment at home. In particular, it is necessary to the family members that xy (youngest daughter of family age4) is free to roam all over the home and hence placing the medication and electric appliances, out of their reach is important. Likewise, xx (son age10) is in the explorative stage of life and will like to try newer activities. Thus using the non-skid mat at the bathtub and maintaining hygienic condition within the home is important. Similarly, both the children of the home will be having the habit of eating anything which is attractive to them. Thus, in order to prevent from any form of accident or poisonous element consumption, it is important for the elders to place syrup of ipecac within the home (Maurer Smith, 2013). The strength of the family - It is interesting to note that none of the family members have a smoking habit, which in turn ensures safe and healthy management of lifestyle. Additionally, the family members are also maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for routine cleaning of the home, regular use of disinfectant, hand washing, daily bath, use of antiseptics and sanitizers, and regular health checkups. Such practice not only avoids frequent illness for the family members but also minimizes the cost of health management and stress level (Maurer Smith, 2013). Assessment of the need for learning Based on this analysis, an important area of learning include precise fire escape plan, use of non-skid mat near a bathtub, placing of cleaning materials away from the reach of children, and sticking of emergency numbers and ipecac syrup within the home that can prove to be effective in emergency timing. The learning environment includes X, Y, XA, and XB that in turn can improve the safety management practice at home in more appropriate manner. Additionally, it was also learned from the family introduction that Y will be having surgery for the treatment of knees pain. For XA and XY, the learning paradigm includes the practice of good communication at home, maintaining cleanliness, and not to practice any addicted material consumption. By not being allowed to suppress their findings, Professors Maseko and Spies’ personal rights as per the Bill of Rights and their interests have been infringed upon and therefore do have standing. Taking this into consideration, Professors Maseko and Spies are entitled to apply for relief, including declaration of rights. They are able to demonstrate that there is sufficient interest, besides their own, in having their treatment published by just taking into account the statistics of deaths caused by HIV/AIDS and the need for tested treatment. Besides being personally affected by the new Medicines Control Amendment act5, the fundamental rights of Professors Maseko and Spies are at stake as their rights have been threatened by the Minister of Health issuing a prior restraint in publication. There is no evidence available that proves this treatment to be dangerous and is in fact seen as a breakthrough by international and domestic experts. The Minister of Health remains certain that the garlic, African Potatoes and vitamins is sufficient enough. In the case Janse van Rensburg v Minister van Handel en Nywerheid, Professors Maseko and Spies are entitled to know what are considered to be the dangerous elements of their treatment since no alternative relief was provided. As soon as a fundamental right has been infringed upon, it is the individual’s right to challenge this and stand before the court with their findings, proof and evidence. The Treatment Action Campaign’s Vision is to follow a unified quality health care system which provides equal access to HIV prevention and treatment services for all people. Their mission it to ensure that every person living with HIV has access to quality comprehensive prevention and treatment services to live a healthy life. They will approach their mission by securing comprehensive treatment and prevention services in selected focus districts as a model for other districts and to inform and support national advocacy efforts through its branches, providing a platform for people to mobilise and organise around HIV and related health rights. The new Medicines Control Amendment Act s5 permits the Minister of Health to suppress any scientific findings she deems to run counter to current state health policies by issuing a prior restraint on publication. Professors Maseko and Spies have discovered a fourth line anti-retroviral treatment that has proven to be a efficacious in combating the conditions of patients with HIV/AIDS and drug resistant forms of TB. However the Minister of health finds this treatment to be groundless and dangerous and has invoked her power under the new Medicines control Amendment Act s5 to prevent SA Medical Review from publishing the findings. The decision of the Minister of Health is going totally against what the Treatment Action Campaign is all about and therefore the Treatment Action Campaign will with this case and any other case which permits them from reaching their mission, challenge the Constitution by means of litigation, lobbying, advocacy and all forms of legitimate social mobilisation, any barrier or obstacle, including unfair discrimination, that limits access to treatment for HIV/AIDS in the private and public sector. The Treatment Action campaign will at no stage publish a treatment that has not been approved by experts and gone through the necessary tests. The Minister of health is also unable to offer any evidence that the treatment is dangerous. If there was evidence that this is true, there would be no reason to challenge the Constitution and the Treatment Action Campaign would not be interested in publishing the findings. The object and purpose of the Treatment Action Campaign is being threatened and therefore they will challenge this act so that they can have the treatment available for the public which they serve. The public certainly have sufficient interest in the aforesaid remedy. In Ferreira v Levin NO, O’Regan identified factors to determine whether a person is genuinely acting in the public interest and for this case, the factors which are relevant factors are the nature of the relief sought, and the range of persons who may be directly or indirectly affected by any order made by the court the opportunity that those persons had to present evidence and argument to the court. The Treatment Action Campaign has the interest of the public at hand, and does not want to publish the findings for their own benefit, but for the benefit of HIV/AIDS and TB patients as they all have sufficient interest in the remedy which they seek. The new Medicines Control Amendment Act s5 is violating the freedom of speech right and freedom to impart information and the Treatment Action campaign therefore has standing to bring this Constitutional Challenge to the New Medicines Control Amendment Act s5.

Only half of those gifted students are receiving the care they need because gifted students are misdiagnosed. Gifted childrens needs do not differ from others. Intellectual and personality attributes characterize gifted children and should be noted at the outset. The Strengths of gifted students is shown by the ability to retain information quickly while the possible problem is the impatient with others (August Hakuta, 1998). High achiever needs to be engaged in the class even in the implementation to the no child left behind act. 2.2.1 Less Skilled Teachers The solutions to the problem of low achievement are retaining them in grade, placing them in transition rooms, enrolling them in remedial or special education classrooms, or placing them in the bottom track. However these solutions increase low achievement and wont allow students to improve or either graduate from high schools. The Discovery of Toumai – An Old Hominid Introduction: The current idea of the evolution of humans is about to make a huge turnabout. The cranium, a jaw fragment, and several teeth of a hominid (a primitive human) were found in the Djurab Desert. The fossils are thought to be, amazingly, between 6 and 7 millions years old. The authorities in Chad have nicknamed the cranium â€Å"Toumai†, which means, â€Å"hope of life† in the Goran language (Walton). Where was it found? The fossils were found in the Djurab Desert in Northern Chad, Central Africa. Of the four areas in the Chad basin, the remains were found in the oldest locality, TM 266 (Toros – Menalla). The remains are well preserved and the cranium is almost complete, considering the difficult detection of fossil layers and the constant sand blowing winds. The cranium has been designated TM 266-01-060-1 (Wood). Only two other hominid fossils have been found in Chad. The first, which was found in 1961, turned out to be a modern human skull that had become so eroded that is looked like an australopith (an early form of hominids). The second set of remains was found in 1995. This hominid was a real australopith and was named Australopithecus bahrelghazali (Wood). But because of where the fossils were found, scientists had to think of another way to date the bones. Absolute – isotope-based – dating methods cannot be applied to the fossil layers at Toros – Menalla because there are no ash layers to provide the necessary argon and potassium. Nor are the sediments suitable for magnetism-based dating methods. Instead, the team matched the rich vertebrate fossil record at TM 266, consisting of examples of 44 different groups, with the equivalent record from sites in East Africa that have absolute dates. The best matches are with two sites in Kenya: The Lukeino Formation of the Tugen Hills (which dates to about 6 million years ago) and the Nawata Formation at Lothagam (5.3-7.4 million years). The upshot is a reliable age estimate of about 6-7 million years for the Toros – Menalla fossils (Wood). How it is different? For over a century and a half, it was believed that humans and African apes are more closely related than humans and orangutans.

Bailey Johnson Jr. is the older brother of Marguerite Ann Johnson, the protagonist of the novel, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou. In order for Maya to become independent, she needs to separate from Bailey. Their original relationship was holding her back. Bailey is described in the book as a bright, clever and light-spirited person. Maya needs to separate from Bailey because she relies on him to fight her battles. He is also a â€Å"God-like† figure to her, which is an unhealthy obsession. Bailey also keeps Maya from believing in herself because Maya puts too much faith in him. Bailey influences Maya both positively and negatively throughout the novel, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. Bailey influences Maya negatively because she depends on him to defend herself in her battles. Maya says in the book that, â€Å"Bailey was the greatest person in my life. † Bailey is really the only person for Maya in her life and she looks up to him. He is basically the big brother of Maya’s dreams. Bailey gives Maya that confidence and couragement such as getting back at Maya’s family members and friends who tease her about her imperfections. In the text, Maya describes one of his actions when she explains, â€Å"When our elders said unkind things about my features, Bailey would wink at me from across the room, and I knew that it was a matter of time before he would take revenge. † This is one of the key examples of Maya relying on Bailey too much and giving him that faith instead of herself. Since Maya is relying on her older brother to defend her, she could never become a stronger person individually. Maya is not capable of becoming more independent because she is ignorant of her own reliance on Bailey. Bailey is described in the book by Maya as a savior in her eyes, which is an unhealthy obsession for Maya. She believes that he is a â€Å"God-like† figure in her eyes. This is unhealthy for Maya because she puts too much faith into Bailey and not in herself. Maya describes Bailey as a savior when she explains that, â€Å"It made me want to live a Christian life just to show God I was grateful†, meaning that she wants to show God that she was thankful for a brother like Bailey. Not only does Bailey influence Maya to be herself and not to worry about the thoughts of others, but he also influences her to be a religious person and walk the path of rightousness. This is one of the reasons why Maya wants to become a person like Bailey because he gets into trouble and misbehaves but yet he prays aloud in church. In the text, Angelou describes that, â€Å"Bailey could count on very few punishments for his consistently outragous misbehavior†¦. He could even pray aloud in church and was apt at stealing pickles. This quote also explains how Maya seeks to become more like Bailey. She wishes to be more like Bailey because he is a pure soul to her and she is desperate for that purity in her life. As Bailey and Maya both begin to grow up and mature in their own ways, Maya begins to become independent. One of the key challenges that Maya has faced that has made her independent was with Daddy Bailey. Daddy Bailey became very drunk one night while they were in Mexico and Maya had no choice but to drive, even though this was her first time driving, both of them back home. This was the first time that Maya was actually in control without the help of Bailey. This is important towards Maya because she begins to slowly separate from Bailey. This is important towards Maya because she begins to realize that she doesn’t need Bailey as help to her. She begins to realize that she doesn’t need her big brother as a crutch anymore. In order for Maya to become independent, she needs to separate from Bailey. Their original relationship was holding her back. By the end of the book, Maya still looks up to Bailey for advice on her pregnancy and Bailey still has that influence on Maya. As Bailey continues to grow up, he becomes wiser about his life and the choices he makes in them. He continues to be the big brother she has always loved. The evolution of Bailey is important because it shows the contrast of independence and maturity between himself and Maya. The change in characterization of Bailey throughout the book influences Maya because when Maya and Bailey grow apart, Maya becomes more independent.

The Idea of Happiness in â€Å"I Served the King of England† by Bohumil Hrabal Essay I Served the King of England by Bohumil Hrabal is a tragicomic novel, a first-person account by Dite, a teenage busboy starting his career in a rural hotel in Czechia. The plot progresses gradually as Dite becomes a waiter and than an owner of a hotel, eventually losing everything except wisdom. The book is structured as a series of picturesque episodes demonstrating people whom Dite meets and situations he gets into during the pre-war period, Nazi occupation of the country and eventually under the communist regime. In this paper I am going to concentrate on one psychological aspect of the novel, namely on the idea of happiness as Dite sees it. At first sight, Dite sees happiness in money and insists on his desire to become a millionaire, however, I will attempt to prove that the actual incentive for Dite’s conduct is desire of respect and recognition. He does not want the entire world to admire him, rather striving to respect of the people whom he himself respects. It is not easy to say whether Dite eventually achieved his purpose, but at the end he at least comes to reconciliation with the surrounding world. In order to prove this point I will refer to the particular parts of the texts as well as to the general plot and spirit of the book. Dite obviously suffers from inferiority complex. He is adulterate, poor and short, so, suffering from all the disadvantages of such situation, he decides to become rich and respected. However, his conduct is often impulsive and determined by his up-to-minute desires. The book can be viewed as a confession of an aged man who analyses his life journey. The language of the book progresses from a naà ¯ve story-telling by a young boy to a considered narrative depicted by older Dite. His priorities can be clearly indicated in every stage of his life. Dite hardly thinks of happiness as itself, for most of his life he rather strives to tread in the steps of the people he meets and whom he deems to be successful. He is â€Å"amazed at how rich people could sit around for the whole evening talking about how just outside the town was a footbridge and right beside the footbridge, thirty years back there was a popular tree and they they’d really get going†[1]. He starts to realize the need of happiness as such at the very late stage of his life, while all his previous existence is a mimicry. Dite’s love for money reveals already in the first scenes of the book. As a busboy he swindles money out of his customers and pretends to be an orphan to get more cash from compassionate passengers on the railroad station. At that he seems to be a cynical person with little moral principles. However, he also has no good example before his eyes, as he has to communicate with drunken customers, heartless master of the hotel and roguish colleagues. So, very early he comes to idea that money rules the world, and in order to be recognized one needs to be rich. He is therefore very proud of â€Å"having money of my own, a couple of hundred a month, and once I even got handed a thousand-crown note†[2]. In this period of Ditie’s life money is an opportunity of self-esteem for him. Very soon it can be observed that money as itself is not a purpose for Dite. He has little idea of how capitals are made and he is not interested in power given by money. What he wants is a luxurious life like that of which he hears from his older pals and like that he finds in Prague. The lavish and careless lifestyle of the pre-war Czech capital becomes his ideal, and he merely wants to enjoy this life in a company of the same playboys. He â€Å"wanted to be surrounded by millionaires†[3]. Being a rather fussy person, Dite becomes lofty when he has an opportunity to remind that â€Å"he is a waiter who served the King of England†. It was not actually the King of England, but an emperor of Ethiopia whom Dite served, but he does not lose an opportunity to brag a little, because this is a moment of his greatest glory. This moment is so important, that Hrabal used it as a name of the book. The narrative is told in the name of old and wise Dite, who, perhaps, realizes the meaninglessness of his claim, so the name is a sharp self-irony. On the other hand, Dite really has nothing more to boast, because serving the King was a point if his highest social recognition, which was so important for young Dite and which is so unimportant for older Dite. Whether consciously or not, Dite attempts to imitate the habits of his neighborhood, and works hard to make enough money to visit a local bordello, of which he hears so much. Further throughout the story relationship with women and sexual intercourses remain to be a strong incentive for him, although his marriage ends with tragedy and disgrace, bringing his to jail, social condemnation and exile. Women are a kind of fatal temptation for Dite, another tool for his self-affirmation and another source of his disappointment. Hrabal uses the story of Dite’s relationships with women as a notable symbol of hic character’s frustration. Dite has a strong desire for women, although this is also rather an attempt to be similar to someone, than his natural need. As an teenage boy he is kin on having at least some woman, yet intercourses with local prostitutes do not satisfy him. Later in Prague he seems to be close to the goal of his life as he marries Lise and makes plans to open his own hotel. This dream would be innocent, in case Lise was not a German activist, and the plot would not develop right before and right after the Munich treaty. German occupation is a turning point in Dite’s life. This is actually the period when his awakening begins. Humiliation by the German authorities, work in the Nazi research institute, and finally Lise’s death during the air raid makes Dite see an another kind of example in the people around him. He really never â€Å"finds the head†[4], and it is somehow his own head. Dite is in fact a â€Å"weathercock†. He hardly cares of the fact that he collaborates with the occupants of his homeland. For him the Germans are just those who are currently on top, and another opportunity to become successful under a new regime. And if he has to prove that he is a â€Å"pure Aryan breed†, and if he has to work on production of even better â€Å"Aryan breed†, and if he is able to make money by selling the precious things confiscated from murdered Jews, so why not? Further events are a sort of punishment for his vagrancies. He loses his wife, he loses hope for luxurious and easy-going life, and he loses even those crumbs of social recognition which he previously enjoyed[5]. Dite’s entire world is ruined, and there is no hope on rebirth. At the second part of the novel Dite becomes that what he was at the beginning – nothing. The illusions of happiness dispel bringing him to the beginning of a new way. Perhaps the entire story is Dite’s attempt of self-analysis. He revisits the situations of his life, trying to imagine how he would have acted in case he would have acted differently. There is no longer opportunity for changing those circumstances, and there is no way back, so the only resort he can afford is fatalistic wisdom in his new calm life in a frontier village, far from all what he previously so estimated. Eventually, he does become a millionaire, at least the name of the book’s last chapter hints this. Yet it is an another kind of richness. His material wealth at the end is a small house, a cat and a goat, but he feels himself richer than he could ever imagine. The unbelievable that came true stayed with me, and I believed in the unbelievable, in the star that had followed me through life, and with its gleam constantly before my eyes I began to believe in it more and more†¦Now that I had been brought to my knees, I realized that my star was brighter than ever, that only now would I be able to see its true brightness, because my eyes had been weakened by everything I had lived through, weakened so that they could see more and know more.[6] It is in this passage where the real nature of happiness in Dite’s view reveals. Having no idea of actual happiness he tries many surrogates, before all of them are ruined and he can smile ironically looking back at his life of a â€Å"person who served the King of England† and here he can just take compassion on that older Dite, who spared his life hunting for delusive mirages. The Composition Of Complex Ions In Solutions In this experiment, we are required to determine the composition of complex ion by continuous variation method. Complex ions refer to a metal cation bonded to either one or more than one molecules. It is a stepwise process to produce the complex ion because every process has its own equilibrium constant (Gretchen E. Potts,2001). However, continuous variation method involves the continue changing of the different concentration of the solution. Besides that, spectrophotometric method can be used to quantitatively identify the unknown composition or concentration of a sample solution with compare to a sample with known concentration. Then, spectrophotometer refers to an instrument which we can use it to measure the light intensity. As we know, most of the UV-Vis spectrophotometers have a range of the wavelength between 190nm-1100nm. This range lies between UV and Visible light region. (Frans F,2004) In this instrument, it has 2 light sources. D2 and W lamp are used for UV and Visible light respectively. It will ensure that only monochromatic light will flow through the slit. Reference cuvette is used as a blank. At the end we can get the reading from the detector. Furthermore, Beer Lambert law states that when a monochromatic radiation passes through a transparent solution, the intensity of the absorbed radiation is directly proportional to the concentration (c) and the optical pathlength, (l) of the solution. So, Absorbance, A = ÃŽ µ x l x c , where ÃŽ µ is the molar absorptivity. The materials we used during the experiment are Ammonium iron (III) sulphate and Salicylic acid. Therefore, we used the following method to determine the concentration of the iron (III) salicylic acid complexes. Materials and Methods : 500 cm3 of Ammonium iron 500 cm3 of salicylic acid solution (III) sulphate solution was prepared. was prepared. Optical density of the other samples were determined using the same instrument and wavelength. The most suitable wavelength for measuring was determined. Discussion : From the results above, the molecular ratio of the Fe3+- salicylic acid complex by using Jobs method was 1:1. The complex is formed by which the salicylic acid donated its lone pair electrons from hydroxyl oxygen atom to iron metal. This is because, salicylic acid is a bidentate to the metal ion. Therefore, it needed three salicylic acid to donate its lone pair electrons to the iron(III) ion. So, the complex formed is trisalicylateferrate(III). The structure will be drawn as follow : In this experiment, we measured the absorbance of our samples from UV-Vis spectrometer. The sample was poured into a cuvette. The sample was not destroy which means that with the using of this spectrometer, the sample was non- destructive. The UV- Vis light pass through the cuvette and the light was absorbed by the sample. Therefore, the sample must be in liquid form. Besides that, before mixing of Fe3+ and salicylic acid, the two solutions were colourless. However, after mixing the two solutions, the sample had a violet in colour.
